SHORT FORM MEETING GUIDE 4/19/21


Sign into meeting and claim host if host is not going to be present. Each leader who created the specific zoom meeting….Eg. Jenna, Jo, Bonnie and Robin have their own host code and will set up/open up on zoom. You can obtain the host code from them if you are scheduled to chair a meeting created by them, IF they will not be attending. Open the meeting with a Welcome to (name of the meeting you are holding—Menomonie AA ……… meeting.) Introduce yourself as the chair person.

Go around and introduce selves. If they have the capability, ask attendees to please open their camera. Anyone new to the program? First meeting since a relapse?

Assign readings- Preamble, How it Works, 12Traditions short form, Other Readings-generally always Daily Reflections as it is AA. 9th Step Promises or other AA step prayers or appropriate reading. The chairperson reads and shares info about the topic reading.

The meeting is based on a topic and discussions after the readings are typically related to that topic. However, if someone in the group needs to discuss something struggling with, that is allowed.

Reminder of confidentiality to preserve anonymity.

Start meeting with a “moment of silence for those who still suffer from alcoholism” followed by the Serenity Prayer.
Any AA related announcements?

Anyone in need of a sponsor, ask to put a number in the chat. Anyone willing to sponsor, please put your info in the chat.

Reminder of no cross talk during the meeting. Leader and others, if appropriate, offer to stay after the meeting closes to network.

Any AA anniversaries? If so, recognize that person. If an anniversary, let that person know we celebrate anniversaries with medallions at 24 hours, 3 mo, 6 mo, 9 mo, 1 year, 18 mo, and years beyond. Ask them to post their full name and address to YOU in the chat (or verbally if they are ok with that) and a medallion will be mailed to them. Let Robin know for the groups except Colfax, Elk Mound, the women’s meeting and Bonnie’s group. Bonnie and Kari are handling those groups. Text info to Robin or Bonnie or Kari if you lead one of their meetings.

Tradition 7 states: Every AA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions. In keeping with this tradition, we accept contributions through (Pay Pal or Venmo, whichever you use.) If you are leading the meeting for the primary person, instruct the tradition 7 info can be found at www.menomonieAA.webstarts.com, website (tradition 7 not totally set up yet as of 5/7/21), post in the chat. Jo hosts the Friday a.m. meetings; (Jenna hosts the Monday a.m. and Saturday p.m. meetings. Robin hosts the Wednesday 1 p.m. As Bill Sees it.)
Is there a need for a group conscience?

We are developing and updating a phone list for those who would like one or would like their number added to the list for distribution to meeting members. Please post in the chat to the leader and your request will be taken care of. (You may forward request to Robin.)


Start with readings:
Preamble; How It Works; 12 Traditions, Daily Reflections; Any other misc. AA-related reading if required; then the main topic reading.


Open up for discussion. After discussion, ask for any second thoughts. When sharing is done you may close the meeting.


Close with the Promises (or other AA step) prayer, followed by the serenity prayer. Also remind of availability for cross talk or one on one after the meeting.
